Where did Brosix name come from and how to pronounce it?

We’ve been asked several times where did BROSIX name come from. Here is the explanation from the founder Stefan Chekanov:

Well, in the Christmas eve 2005 me and my brother Svetoslav were thinking how to name our new software application. At that time our company name was D-Bross and at the same time my son was a fan of the Asterix and Obelix movies. So, we combined D-Bross with Asterix and got Brosix. That’s it, Brosix name was inspired by our company name and my son

Now, how to pronounce. Following the story, we pronounce it [bro'siks]

Is Brosix compliant with SAS-70, HIPAA and other regulation requirements?

Since Brosix does not process our customers financial information we are not subject to SAS-70. Brosix also does not process our customers health information so we are not subject to HIPAA also.

Brosix provides secure communication channels that our customers use to transfer their information. During the transmission Brosix does not process, change, tamper or in any other way manipulate their data.

So, the short answer is that Brosix customers who are subjects to SAS-70, HIPAA, SSAE 16, HITECH or any other regulation, can easily meet their requirements.

What is the difference between “Brosix Personal” and “Brosix Enterprise”?

“Personal Use” is when an individual user uses the software for his purposes either at home on a travel or at work. All “Personal Use” users use Brosix FREE IM Network. They share one network. No enterprise features are available for them as they don’t need them. A “Personal User” has control only on his own account.

“Brosix Enterprise” is for all users that use the enterprise version. Each Brosix Enterprise customer gets a private/closed IM network. The customer administrator has full control over all user accounts in his IM network. Enterprise user accounts can be used at work, at home or on a travel.

Generally speaking, the differences between “Brosix Personal” and “Brosix Enterprise” are:

Brosix Personal is one user account. A Brosix Enterprise network has many user accounts.

Brosix Personal controls only its account. Brosix Enterprise controls all user accounts it owns.

Brosix Personal and Brosix Enterprise share the same set of application features. Brosix Enterprise supports also enterprise features that are not available to Brosix Personal. Enterprise Features give full control over the Instant Messaging network.
